Control Freaks
Yesterday I joined a brown-bag discussion on the recent ASTC Dimensions issue on Blog, Podcasts and Wikis ASTC is the Association of Science and Technology Centers, and since I love working both in outreach and with the aforementioned technologies, I joined the discussion.
In short, I’m distressed that so many in E&O are still afraid to crank open the gates to frank and open discussion. I think the risks of not doing so, and falling into the musty Web 1.0 realm of static, heirarchical content, are higher than the risks of controversial content. Yes, threads may be moderated for offensive or off-topic content, but if you’re not getting on board with social technologies soon, you may well end up missing the boat.
